MIDWEST TO THE GULF

Chicago to Naples:
MDW, PWK and KAPF.

Chicago to Naples is a winter corridor. Midway and Chicago Executive are the usual departures. Naples is KAPF. Sarasota is the alternate when the yacht or the house is north of Gordon Pass. The distance is about 945 nautical miles. The block time is still the operator’s figure.

THE CORRIDOR

Midway, Chicago Executive and the Gulf Coast

KMDW and KPWK are the Chicago ends in this guide. KAPF is Naples. KSRQ is Sarasota Bradenton when the geography says so. About 945 nautical miles is the distance band. Operators often talk about 2 hours 30 minutes to 2 hours 55 minutes of block. ALINARI does not compute that from the mileage and does not publish it as your arrival time.

Winter positioning is the quiet cost. An aircraft that lives in Florida may need to come north the day before, or an aircraft that lives in the Midwest may need to go home empty. Ask the quote to show that leg. A blended hourly number that hides positioning is hard to compare with a light jet that is already in Chicago.

Indicative bands remain those on the category pages, excluding FET, segment fees and handling. A Chicago to Naples trip is domestic unless you continue to the Bahamas. If you do continue, say so, because the aircraft that is ideal for KAPF may be wrong for MYEH the next morning.

THE ARRIVAL

Naples is a yacht day only if you plan the dock

Landing at KAPF does not put you on a boat. The Naples guide is the 12 to 18 minute transfer conversation and the Gordon Pass weather. Build the yacht start after customs, if any, and after the car.

A Latitude, a Challenger 350 and a G450 or G550 are references, not inventory. The midsize, super-midsize and long-range pages explain how to read their brochures. Your quote names one tail number.

All flights are operated by properly licensed direct air carriers. ALINARI is the broker. The form does not reserve the trip.

THE BRIEF

Send the bags and the airport codes

MDW or PWK, KAPF or KSRQ, the date, the people and the golf-bag count are enough to start. Add a return if the winds will be different. One-way trips should say where the aircraft is allowed to leave the party.

PLANNING DOSSIER

Chicago to Naples notes

A Saturday tee time in Naples is a reason to land Friday. Say so if it is true.

Empty positioning after a one-way can cost as much as the occupied leg. Ask to see it.

Children’s equipment and a set of clubs can exceed a light-jet hold even when the people would fit.

If the party is split between Midway and a northern suburb, the car time can erase the reason you avoided the airline airport.

Sarasota is not a failure to get into Naples. It is sometimes the shorter path to the house.

A continuing Bahamas leg belongs in the same email so the aircraft choice serves both runways.

Holiday blackout dates should be in the first sentence, not the third revision.

Ross Alinari reviews the brief personally. The address is the Charter Desk email.

Chicago departures also fail on the ground, not the cruise. Midway and Chicago Executive have different security rhythms and different car access. A family that lives in the northern suburbs may lose the entire advantage of a private flight if the car to Midway is the long part. Name the house, not the city. The operator can then say whether PWK or MDW is the aircraft’s better airport, and the Naples arrival can stay at KAPF without a heroic connection.

Winter daylight is the other quiet constraint. A late KAPF arrival that looked fine in a brochure is a dark Gordon Pass if the yacht was the point. Ask for wheels-down in time for the 12 to 18 minute transfer and a boarding that is not a night exercise, unless a night boarding is truly acceptable. The desk would rather move the Chicago departure earlier than explain a missed inlet.

Golf bags from Chicago are rarely one soft carry. Count the travel covers, the shoes and the hard case that always appears at the FBO. A Latitude may still be right, but only after that count. A Challenger or a Gulfstream reference is a comparison when the count fails, not a status symbol.

Positioning into Midway the night before a holiday can be the difference between a morning departure and a wasted connection. Ask the operator whether the aircraft can sit overnight and what that costs. Hiding the overnight in a vague daily rate makes the Naples quote impossible to compare.

If the house is in north Naples and the yacht is at Gordon Pass, KAPF still wins. If the house is in Sarasota and the yacht story was only a maybe, KSRQ can be the shorter car. Tell the desk which address is real.

A continuing island leg should be named even if it is three days later. The aircraft that is perfect for a winter NAPLES arrival may be booked to leave, and the island aircraft has to be found while there is still a ramp in Florida. One email prevents two disconnected quotes.

MIDWEST QUESTIONS

Winter trips, bags and Sarasota.

How far is Chicago from Naples?

About 945 nautical miles is the planning band for KMDW or KPWK to KAPF, with KSRQ in the same family. Confirm the pair you mean. It is not a flight time.

What block time do operators discuss?

About 2 hours 30 minutes to 2 hours 55 minutes comes up in corridor conversations. Winds and the aircraft change it. Ask the carrier for the figure you will tell the family.

Which cabin fits golf bags?

A Citation Latitude, a Challenger 350 and a Gulfstream G450 or G550 answer that differently. Measure the bags. A long-range cabin is not required just because the clubs are expensive.

When is Sarasota the better arrival?

When the house or the yacht is closer to KSRQ than to Gordon Pass. Naples is the wrong loyalty if the car ride undoes the private flight.
