OUT ISLAND RUNWAYS
Flights to Harbour Island & Abaco:
MYEH, MYAM and the dock.
Harbour Island and the Abacos are won or lost on runway length, a water taxi and the marina that can actually take the yacht. MYEH, MYAM, MYAT and MYBS are the fields. The Florida departure is usually KFXE, KOPF, KAPF or KDJT.
Begin your charter brief
Short published runways are why a turboprop stays in the comparison.
THE FIELDS
Four airports, four different yacht days
MYEH is the Harbour Island machine: land, clear, and take the water taxi. About 10 minutes on the water is the planning band, not a scheduled ferry you can miss by thirty seconds and still make. If the taxi is rough, the day moves. The yacht, if it is boarding at Valentine’s or the Conch Inn, needs its own berth confirmation.
MYAM is Marsh Harbour, the practical air gateway for a Sea of Abaco week that includes Hope Town, Man-O-War and Guana. The Abacos itinerary is the water half. The aircraft does not choose the mooring.
Treasure Cay, MYAT, serves a different corner of the Abacos. Confirm the published runway rather than borrowing Marsh Harbour’s 6,100-foot reference. South Bimini, MYBS, near 5,430 feet, is the short crossing from South Florida and the strictest payload conversation of the four.
| Field | Runway reference | First transfer | Yacht note |
|---|---|---|---|
| MYEH North Eleuthera | About 6,000 ft | Water taxi about 10 minutes to Harbour Island | Valentine’s or Conch Inn are marina questions |
| MYAM Marsh Harbour | About 6,100 ft | Car or taxi to the marina | Hope Town is a further hop |
| MYAT Treasure Cay | Confirm the chart | Local marina transfer | Do not copy MYAM performance |
| MYBS South Bimini | About 5,430 ft | Short South Florida stage | Payload before speed |
THE AIRCRAFT
Let the shortest runway choose
Departing KFXE near 6,002 feet does not mean the arrival runway is as forgiving. Brief the limiting end. The turboprop and very-light guide lists these fields beside KEYW for that reason. A light jet remains in the set when the operator’s performance numbers support the payload.
Baggage for a Harbour Island week is clothing, toys and sometimes provisioning the aircraft should not carry. Fuel and food are often an APA item on the yacht. Separating them keeps the aircraft legal and the boat stocked.
All flights are operated by properly licensed direct air carriers. ALINARI does not operate the water taxi or the yacht. If a Bahamas yacht fee is quoted, the wording to expect is: 10% Bahamas VAT and applicable Bahamas Port Department charter fees (confirmed per vessel in the written charter agreement)
THE BRIEF
Write the field code
Harbour Island in a subject line is not MYEH in a flight plan. Use the code, the date, the passenger count and whether the water taxi and the yacht boarding are the same hour. A gap is healthier than a stack.

PLANNING DOSSIER
Harbour Island and Abaco flight notes
A midday arrival can be hotter and bumpier than an early one. Ask the operator which they prefer for the runway, then ask the marina which they prefer for the tide.
Devil’s Backbone is a yacht pilotage problem east of Harbour Island, not an aircraft approach. Keep the vocabularies separate.
If the group splits between Marsh Harbour and Treasure Cay, it is two transfers. Do not promise one van.
Return customs into KFXE or KOPF needs the same document discipline as the outbound APIS filing.
A celebration that requires a specific villa on Harbour Island can outrank the airport. Name the villa so the taxi and the yacht use the right dock.
Soft sand and hard aircraft performance data do not belong in the same sentence. The photograph is not the landing.
Pets are an aircraft question and a Bahamas entry question. Raise both before the quote.
Ross Alinari reads the email brief. The form on this page reaches the same desk.
The Harbour Island water taxi is a small-boat ride, not a sealed cabin. Guests in linen who packed for a jet will remember the spray. Mention it. If someone cannot do the taxi, the plan may be a different marina pattern or a different island, and that decision belongs in the first note.
Treasure Cay and Marsh Harbour are both Abacos airports and they are not a twenty-minute mix-up. A yacht boarding at Green Turtle is a poor match for a Marsh Harbour vanity arrival if the car then crosses the island. Name the cay first.
South Bimini’s shorter runway is the reason a seemingly simple Miami hop still needs a performance number. If the payload includes full fuel and five adults, ask the operator to show the case before you tell the yacht a clock time. A delay here is a weight problem, not traffic.
A pilot for Devil’s Backbone is a yacht cost and a yacht schedule. It does not appear on the aircraft quote. If the boat must move that afternoon, the flight arrival has to leave time for the pilot, not only for the taxi.

SHORT-FIELD QUESTIONS
Runway, taxi, marina.
Which airport serves Harbour Island?
North Eleuthera, MYEH, is the usual field. Guests then take a water taxi of about 10 minutes to Harbour Island Dock, sea state permitting. The yacht may board at Valentine’s or the Conch Inn, which is a marina plan, not an aircraft plan.
How long are the Out Island runways?
Planning references often cite MYEH near 6,000 feet, MYAM near 6,100 feet and MYBS near 5,430 feet. Treasure Cay’s length should be read from the current chart. None of these figures is a performance approval.
Is a light jet always better than a turboprop?
No. A larger door or a stronger short-field case can favor a turboprop even when a light jet is faster. Ask the operator to compare the aircraft that can actually carry your bags.
Does the yacht contract include Bahamas tax?
When the yacht charter is in the Bahamas, the fee language to confirm is: 10% Bahamas VAT and applicable Bahamas Port Department charter fees (confirmed per vessel in the written charter agreement) The flight is a separate contract and does not collect that yacht tax.
